Baker Center for Translation and Intercultural Studies was established on October 13, 2017. The Center is staffed by 1 professor, 1 adjunct professor, 2 associate professors, 2 lecturers, and 3 postdoctoral researchers. The Center is led by Professor Mona Baker, an internationally renowned translation scholar. Professor Hu Kaibao, Professor of translation studies and Dean of SFL, is the Center’s Executive Director. With the assistance of an international advisory board consisting of renowned scholars with a diverse range of expertise and interests, the Center engages in a number of initiatives aimed at enhancing dialogues between Chinese and international scholars of translation and creating an open, welcoming space for all scholars, but particularly early career scholars, to interact and explore new avenues of research and to build itself into a world-renowned translation research center.
